Book Blogger Hop #13 & Follow Friday #7

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books whilst Follow Friday is hosted by ParaJunkee’s View. ‘The Hop’ and ‘Follow Friday’ are a great way to find other people who love to blog about books just like me! So if you’re interested in participating why not check out both Crazy for Books and ParaJunkee’s View for more information.

Jennifer also asks us hopper’s to answer a new question each week, so today’s question for the Hop is (*drum roll please*):

How do you spread the word about your blog?
(e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)

I do a whole lot of different things, I’m a member of Book Blogs which is a community of book bloggers where we discuss what we’re doing on our blogs, they also give some really helpful blogging tips. I’ve also added my blog to the YA Book Blog Directory where people go to find YA book blogs and the Australian Book Blogger Directory. I’m seriously considering starting up a twitter account, a lot of blogs and authors seem to be using it but I’m still not 100% sure just yet, what do you guys think?

Whilst I have found these to be good at spreading the word about my blog I think just interacting with other members in the blogging community is the most important so I do try to comment on lots of different blogs around. I like to receive comments so I’m sure everyone else does but I never leave my web address in the comment section for some reason I personally don’t feel comfortable doing that but I don’t mind when people do that on my blog though. I was also really lucky to get my blog onto the ‘blogs we like’ section under Penguin Australia’s YA book site ‘Behind the Lines’ as I won an ARC they were giving away, I simply sent them an email asking if it was okay if I could put a review for the book up on my site, I then received an email back asking me if they could put my blog on their website and asked if I would be willing to review some books for them. So I guess what I’m saying is there a whole lot of different ways you can spread the word about your blog some more standard than others but I really believe if you have a blog that people like other people will spread the word about your blog for you, word of mouth is very powerful!

Great response! I don't see the point in Follow Friday (since I ALWAYS follow back my followers anyway), so I haven't done it in at least a month.

Btw,
I think I got onto the BTL list because I kept on commenting them. :P
Happy Follow Friday! I'm an old follower. Love your blog.
Just hoppin' on by! <3

You definitely should get a twitter! Then again, I'm a HORRID social networker and feel like I sound too transparent when I try to network via tweets.

I also agree that the most awesome way is to visit other bloggers and comment on their posts. I consider it more as making friends, rather than networking though. I get so excited when I see "regulars" on my blog. I just want to gush at them and hug them. <3

My hop :3

Happy HOP!! I was kind of the same with leaving my blog address but then I got to thinking if someone wanted to visit me all the different steps it would take to come. I ended up adding the link to make it easy :) My main thing is taking part in the weekly memes and visiting as many blogs as I can. It's been alot of fun and a great way to get to know people .

I just wanted to ask how Australia is? I am soooo homesick right now :(

Come HOP by my blog and visit
XD I love your response, Romy! I think interaction is very important too - I always try my best to leave comments whenever I read a great post.

My Book Blogger Hop
That is really cool that you were featured on the Penguin site.

And that's it, I've gone and joined Book Blogs... I'd never even heard of it before!! But now I've seen it on several answers to this question.

As for leaving a link, I always do... but that's because I know on my site, it's easier for me if people leave them... otherwise I have to go hunt them down... so I leave one to simplify things for people.

Stop by and check out my Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday and Giveaway!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm an old follower of yours but wanted to stop in and say hi and have a great weekend. I adore Twitter, it's a little overwhelming at first, but it's a really great way to meet other bloggers:)
Hopping along the trail... I’m a new follower. Happy Friday!

Hopping through. I love your thorough answer to the weekly question. I like to leave my web link in comments. I always try to comment back when people comment on my post, and it's so much easier if the person has included a web link. I figure if I'm substantively commenting in someone's post, leaving a web link shouldn't come off as spamming...at least I hope not. It's just helps the person comment back if they want to.
Hopping by. I say BOOO to twitter! :) I leave my blog address only when doing memes like this...just to make it easier! But if I leave a comment on a review or just a general update I don't leave my address, I just come by to show the l-o-v-e :) I'm an old follower

Hop on by :D
Hopping by to say hi! I've just started out on Twiiter and the book blogging comminuty on there is fantastic and you sometimes find posts from links in tweets that you might otherwise not have read. I'd say go for it! I also felt the same way as you about leaving my link to start off with but in the hop I do because it is easier for people :D

If you have time I would love it if you checked out my 150+ followers giveawayhere

Have a great weekend!

Happy weekend. Come see how I use the social networks.
Old follower stopping by to say hello. I don't really do the Follow Friday meme, but to answer the question posted, I make use of Twitter, Good reads and just make effort to try and visit as many of my follower's blogs that I can manage..
Wow...what a great response. I have begun using twitter but you have to make sure you tweet which takes time. I would rather make comments on blogs. I am a new follower. Come and visit me.
Hopping by to catch that dang bunny!

New follower here! Hope you are having a great hop!

I came over from the hop, but I recognise you from Goodreads!.

I have a Twitter account and know quite a few people who use it for the blogging, but I never have the time for it so I basically use it just as a way for people to follow the blog (like RSS, but Twitter-ised). It really is quite addictive and time consuming so I think it's one of those things you have to decide you have the time for and are going to really use it. I think going mobile with it might be very helpful too.

I also don't feel comfortable leaving my link in my comment when visiting someone's blog. I guess it all depends on personal taste.

I love Behind The Lines, but haven't been able to check it in so long. Thanks for reminding me to go back there.

Have a hopping great weekend and you've got yourself a new follower.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I use twitter and it's fun, even though I don't update much. I like following other bloggers there though! It's a great resource.
I'm stopping by from the hop and am now a new follower! I'm also spreading the word that every comment on my blog during the month of October will not only qualify you for great prizes, but also helps to raise money for the Room to Read Girls' Education Program. Have a great weekend! :D

About Me
Romy @ Lost.in.Stories
Greetings fellow blog readers, welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by. Now you may be wondering who is lost.in.stories? Well lost.in.stories is also known as Romy, a 23 year old graduate student from Australia who loves to read. I read (maybe devour would be a more appropriate word) largely young adult novels, with a particular love of fantasy and paranormal novels, however I am also a sucker for a good romance.
