What is your favorite book cover?
This is a difficult question for me there are so many book covers I just adore but if I have to pick one it would be Blood & Flowers by Penny Blubaugh, this book isn’t even released yet so I haven’t even seen it in the flesh, but there is just something so whimsical and stunning about this cover. I only hope that the story is just as amazing as the cover, well I’ll just have to wait until it’s released on March 1st 2011.

Since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, let's use this week's Hop to share what we are most thankful for and what our holiday traditions are!
This is going to sound terrible but I don’t know what Thanksgiving is, I mean I’ve heard of it before but I don’t know anything about it being from Australia (very ignorant of me I know). I don’t suppose any of my American readers could explain it to me.
Now onto the question, hmmmm what am I thankful for, definitely my family I don’t know what I’d do without them. I’m also thankful that I live in a peaceful country and I don’t have to worry about going without the basic things in life that many people don’t have (travelling to Ecuador and Peru last year really brought home that message). As I’m a big reader and get immense joy from reading I’m also thankful that I can actually read and write, believe it or not there are a significant number of people around Australia and the world that cannot which is depressing, everyone should be able to feel the joy that comes from being able to read and write plus studies have shown that education can lift people out of poverty.

If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?
I have never picked up a book if it’s in a series and I haven’t read the first one yet, I always have to start with the first book in the series, I’m a bit of a stickler for this.

What is your usual monthly book budget?
I generally purchase new releases (for older books I mooch on down to the library) so it can vary, one month may have lots of new releases coming out which I really want so I probably spend more on books that month compared to a month where there aren't that many books released which appeal to me. However, if I had to pick a dollar value I’d say I could spend anything from $20 to $100 a month on books.

What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?
I know I probably shouldn’t take it personally, I mean these things happen and it’s not the end of the world, but sometimes I do and I begin to think what’s wrong with my blog am I doing something wrong. I guess I just need to remember everyone is different and has different opinions of what they do and don’t like, for every person that enjoys my bloggy musings there are probably lots of others who don’t really find my blog that interesting to them at all and that’s okay. So basically I (and others) should not take loosing followers personally we must always remember that the people unsubscribing from our blogs are not being mean or spiteful.
I really think Jennifer’s answer to this question is really interesting especially where she brings up ‘what exactly is a follower?’, is it the number of friends you have on google friend connect or is it the people that visit your blog and comment regularly? I’d definitely say the second one because these individuals are actually coming back to your blog on a regular basis whereas many people listed on my google friend connect probably don’t visit my blog on a regular basis at all.
For the second part of the question I have never stopped following a blog before even though I don’t visit many of them regularly, I mean I try and visit as many blogs as I can on a weekly basis (I have my favourites I visit regularly) but I just don’t have the time.

Who are your favourite authors?
Oohh that’s a hard one as I have so many but I guess I’ll just list a few. First off the classics, Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell and Charlotte Brontë all write novels which I can read over and over again and never get tired of them.
For more ‘modernist’ authors J.K. Rowling is an author who I just adore (along with many of you I’m sure), I mean Harry Potter amazing! I’ll also read anything from Maggie Stiefvater’s (I fell in love with Maggie’s lyrical prose early this year after reading Shiver), Rachel Caine (Morganville Vampires anyone?), Kimberly Derting (The Body Finder novels), Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games, an amazing suspense thrilled series with a strong female lead character!) and Justina Chen Headley (for writing a book that I couldn’t stop thinking about even after I finished it).

Where is your favorite place to read? Curled up on the sofa, in bed, in the garden?
It depends on my mood I guess or what it’s like outside. Sometimes I like to read on the couch other times I like to spread out on my bed laying my head on my giant pillow my mum bought me just so I could read in bed. If it’s a nice sunny day outside I am quite partial to reading on a blanket outside just like I wanted to do today, it was such a beautiful day (my fellow Melburnians will understand).

Currently I am reading Embrace by Jessica Shirvington which is about Angels. I only started reading it last night, I was supposed to read a couple of chapters but the next thing you know I was almost halfway through.

What's your favourite beverage while reading or blogging, if any? Is it tea, coffee, water, a glass of wine, or something else?
A cup of organic chamomile tea, but not in tea bags, I use the fresh kind with a strainer, very calming.

I try to do at least one a week, I’d like to do more but I just don’t have the time to do more than one review a week at the moment especially with uni work. When the holiday’s start up I’ll be able to spend a lot more time reading and reviewing though J

How do you spread the word about your blog?

I do a whole lot of different things, I’m a member of Book Blogs which is a community of book bloggers where we discuss what we’re doing on our blogs, they also give some really helpful blogging tips. I’ve also added my blog to the YA Book Blog Directory where people go to find YA book blogs and the Australian Book Blogger Directory. I’m seriously considering starting up a twitter account, a lot of blogs and authors seem to be using it but I’m still not 100% sure just yet, what do you guys think?
Whilst I have found these to be good at spreading the word about my blog I think just interacting with other members in the blogging community is the most important so I do try to comment on lots of different blogs around. I like to receive comments so I’m sure everyone else does but I never leave my web address in the comment section for some reason I personally don’t feel comfortable doing that but I don’t mind when people do that on my blog though. I was also really lucky to get my blog onto the ‘blogs we like’ section under Penguin Australia’s YA book site ‘Behind the Lines’ as I won an ARC they were giving away, I simply sent them an email asking if it was okay if I could put a review for the book up on my site, I then received an email back asking me if they could put my blog on their website and asked if I would be willing to review some books for them. So I guess what I’m saying is there a whole lot of different ways you can spread the word about your blog some more standard than others but I really believe if you have a blog that people like other people will spread the word about your blog for you, word of mouth is very powerful!

When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?
I find that in order for me to write a review I need to have read the entire book to get a complete feel for it which enables me to write the best review I can, I don’t think I could do that if I haven’t finish the book yet. I do sometimes take notes down if there’s something I feel I have to put in my review but that’s about as far as I get until I finish the book.

Words on Paper – I love Cass’s blog she has great reviews and is always up to date on all the contests that are going on around the blogosphere.
Inkcrush – if you want anything to do with aussie YA look no further than Nomes at Inkcrush plus she’s just a really nice person J
21 Pages – Linna’s reviews are so beautifully written how can you not love her blog.

Favourite YA, or do you stick to the adult reads?
I tend to read anything YA (romance, paranormal, mystery, fantasy, contemporary, what can I say I have an eclectic taste) but that said if I find an adult read that sounds interesting I’ll read it.
