Waiting on Wednesday: The Summer Before Boys by Nora Raleigh Baskin

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" is:

The Summer Before Boys by Nora Raleigh Baskin

Release Date: May 10, 2011
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Age Group: Young Adult

Julia and Eliza are family, but they’re also best friends. They’ve grown up together, and share everything from school and homework to the worlds they’ve created with their imaginations. Now, Julia’s mom has gone overseas to serve with the National Guard in Iraq, and Julia is going to spend the summer living with Eliza and her parents.

But despite all the promise of a summer filled with friendship, sun, and adventure, Julia is distracted by worries for her mother and the sudden development of her first crush. For the first time, Julia and her thoughts are traveling to a place that Eliza can’t follow. And as Julia deals with growing further away from the fantasies the two have always shared, Eliza discovers that it’s not any easier to be the one left behind.

In her follow up to the award-winning Anything But Typical, Nora Baskin Raleigh has written a powerful, touching story about the wedge that can be driven between best friends at the time when they most need each other.

Yep it’s another contemporary book, I’m on this contemporary book reading binge at the moment and this one sounds like a doosey. I just can’t get enough of these highly emotional beautifully written books. What particularly appeals to me about The Summer Before Boys is the exploration of the friendship between two best friends that is changing along with the girls themselves, I’m sure many people can relate to it, I know I can.

Well that’s my “waiting on” pick, what's yours this week?

sounds like it might be a good friendship book, I'm not normally a contemp reader unless it has paranormal, time travel but I might have to make an exception and give this one a try.

Our WOW
This sound like a great story. I love a good relationship book, and this is an issue that many teens face in some form. Great pick!
Oh, I haven't heard about this one! Thanks for introducing it to me!

Here's what I'm waiting on!
I love the way this one sounds, thanks for putting it on my radar. Will definitely be adding it to my goodreads to-read pile! :)
I haven't heard of this one yet... but it sounds very good! :)

Here's what I'm waiting on this week
I just saw this book today in good reads and it sounds very good, I didn't know it was a sequel, though. So I'll have to check out the first one.

Nice pick
oh it does sound good!

i've discovered i can't 'wait' on books. like, if i go out and find a yet to be published book i get way too excited...and then i spend MONTHS in a kind of eager dispair which completely does away with my sanity...

so i'm just going to name you as my 'waiting on books' ambassador... good job so far :)

Why thank you, I accept the title of ambassador now please enlighten me will this title come with a monthly salary or is it one of those titles thingys that one has to do for free, what am I saying I'll do it either way.
you can have my soul as payment! i don't think i use it anyway.

it's totally the appendix of the spiritual world :P
This book sounds really good!! I get into genre binges myself, so I totally understand! Adding this to my wishlist. Thanks for sharing!

About Me
Romy @ Lost.in.Stories
Greetings fellow blog readers, welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by. Now you may be wondering who is lost.in.stories? Well lost.in.stories is also known as Romy, a 23 year old graduate student from Australia who loves to read. I read (maybe devour would be a more appropriate word) largely young adult novels, with a particular love of fantasy and paranormal novels, however I am also a sucker for a good romance.
