Queensland Flood Appeal

After seeing the harrowing images of the Queensland floods on television and reading all about the devastating effect the floods are having on the people of Queensland I’ve decided to write up a post about how you can help those that are currently affected by this tragic event.

The floods that are currently travelling through Queensland are the worst since the 1974 floods, however many more people will be affected this time around as Queensland is much more populated now compared to what it was in ’74.

Brisbane the capital of Queensland and Australia’s third largest city is also flooded in parts. For scale just in Brisbane alone it is expected that almost 20,000 homes and 3,500 businesses will be flooded, currently up to 75% of the state of Queensland has been declared a disaster area.

Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes to evacuation centers. At least 15 people have been confirmed dead and many more are missing, the clean up of this disaster is going to cost billions of dollars.

Below are some amazing images of the havoc the flood has wreaked in parts of Queensland.

It's great that you did this Romy. I will do a similar post. It's one thing to witness, but it's another to donate. Seeing it all on the news just breaks your heart. Even seeing those horses struggling to climb onto roofs. I just feel like traveling up there to physically help. So many people deserve every bit of effort foreigners and those in other states can help with. It's a shame that 2011 gave Australia a devastating memory to remember forever.
Thank you Romy from a Queenslander for doing this post. It is absolutely heartbreaking the floods. I don't think there is a Queenslander that isn't effected by the floods by some way or another. My family and I are safe and dry but I have plenty of friends and their families that have not been so lucky and have had their house go under. My heart goes out to those that have lost love ones, homes, businesses, pets, everything.
I'm so sorry, and my heart goes out to all of you.
I'll keep you all in my prayers *hugs*

Greetings fellow blog readers, welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by. Now you may be wondering who is lost.in.stories? Well lost.in.stories is also known as Romy, a 23 year old graduate student from Australia who loves to read. I read (maybe devour would be a more appropriate word) largely young adult novels, with a particular love of fantasy and paranormal novels, however I am also a sucker for a good romance.
