In My Mailbox #8

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren once a week which explores the weekly contents of your mailbox and books bought.

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto (Feiwel & Friends /August 31, 2010 - US)

Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Venus Cove. But everything changes when three angels are sent from heaven to protect the town against the gathering forces of darkness: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. They work hard to conceal their true identity and, most of all, their wings. But the mission is threatened when the youngest angel, Bethany, is sent to high school and falls in love with the handsome school captain, Xavier Woods. Will she defy the laws of Heaven by loving him? Things come to a head when the angels realize they are not the only supernatural power in Venus Cove. Theres a new kid in town and hes charming, seductive and deadly. Worst of all, hes after Beth.

I went to Alexandra’s book signing on Thursday in the city, it started at 4.30 but I couldn’t get myself out of my uni class so I was an hour late but she still signed my book! I was really upset because it looked like it was a great book signing event and there weren’t too many people there either. Oh well I still got to meet Alexandra and she was so lovely turns out she actually goes to my uni but she’s deferred for a year.

Hourglass (Evernight #3) by Claudia Gray (HarperTeen/March 9, 2010)

Bestselling author Claudia Gray’s Evernight series continues. In Hourglass, Bianca and Lucas have found a way to be together. But it means lying to the people who care about them the most.

After escaping from Evernight Academy, the vampire boarding school, Bianca and Lucas seek refuge with Black Cross, the elite group of vampire hunters led by Lucas’s stepfather. When Bianca’s close friend—the vampire Balthazar—is captured by Black Cross, Bianca knows she has to do whatever it takes to save him. But at what cost?

Hourglass, the third book in this gripping vampire series by the author of the New York Times bestseller Stargazer, has all the romance, suspense, and page-turning drama that have made Claudia Gray’s books runaway successes.

Good Oil by Laura Buzo (Allen & Unwin Australia/August 2010)

A wonderful, coming-of-age love story from a fresh new voice in YA fiction.

'Miss Amelia Hayes, welcome to The Land of Dreams. I am the staff trainer. I will call you grasshopper and you will call me sensei and I will give you the good oil. Right? And just so you know, I'm open to all kinds of bribery.'

From the moment 15-year-old Amelia begins work on the checkout at Woolworths she is sunk, gone, lost...head-over-heels in love with Chris. Chris is the funny, charming, man-about-Woolies, but he's 21, and the 6-year difference in their ages may as well be 100. Chris and Amelia talk about everything from Second Wave Feminism to Great Expectations and Alien but will he ever look at her in the way she wants him to? And if he does, will it be everything she hopes?

I couldn’t help myself I had a 30% off coupon from Borders so off I went today and bought Good Oil and Hourglass. I bought Good Oil because it sounds like such a cute love story plus it’s by an Australian author (I’m trying to read more by Aussie authors). I’m a little over halfway through Stargazer at the moment so I thought I’d better buy Hourglass so I can start reading it straight away once I’ve finished Stargazer plus Claudia Gray’s book signing is this Friday so I want to be up to date with the series!

I hope you guys all had a great week, what books did you receive?

Halo looks beautiful! Lucky, you got it signed. It's good that you still made it in time. :)

Let me know how Halo goes, yeah? Now, I'm aiming to get Halo. I WILL GET A COPY! Just broke and stripped of most of my free time. (I will never stop visiting book blogs though, no matter how busy I get!)

Well lost.in.stories is also known as Romy, a 23 year old graduate student from Australia who loves to read.
